As the manager of an Internal Tools platform, I led the development of a custom calculator for both wage earners and self-employed borrowers, as well as a new tax transcript ordering tool. This project was a significant undertaking, as it was the first product we built from scratch, with no prior experience in UI/UX design. We developed a user-friendly interface that effectively provided and collected the necessary information to place orders and integrate with other applications.
We created APIs to interact with vendors, automating the placement of orders and the collection of required documentation for borrowers. Once the initial tools were built, we also added the ability to order written verifications of employment and verbal verifications of employment through a vendor. The platform automatically populated the necessary information to place these orders, further simplifying the ordering of income and employment verifications.
This platform was managed continuously for improvement and enhancements, ensuring it adapted to evolving needs. One of the key benefits was a significant reduction in transcript ordering errors, from 30% down to less than 10%.
The implementation of this project resulted in greater consistency in income calculation and a simplified, more accurate tax transcript ordering process, reducing errors and improving efficiency.
My team managed this platform for over 8 years, making ongoing enhancements to ensure continued compliance. The team handled escalations, questions, and met with stakeholders routinely to work through updates. Implementation of enhancements was managed using agile, with use of JIRA. We created stories, acceptance criteria, and was responsible for UAT.
